Development of Destination Management Organization in Pangandaran.

To continue UNWTO program in Pangandaran, Indecon is currently working together with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Republic Indonesia to facilitate the establishment of Destination Management Organization (DMO) Pangandaran in 2010-2014. It will be developed as a collaborative management initiative; which will involve multi stakeholders proportionally and responsibly according to each roles and tasks. At the moment,  a Committee of local stakeholders have been established and will be focused in the process to develop DMO. The committee comprises 11 local organizations, tourism association, and community leaders; including head of villages, local council members, Hotel and Restaurant Association Pangandaran, Guide Association Pangandaran, Kompepar, and others.

Destination management should be relieved from the rigid administration, limited budget, and poor human resources. DMO Pangandaran is expected to take significant role in destination revitalization, environmental and biodiversity conservation, human resources development, facility improvement, promotion and marketing; in a more independent and sustainable manner
