Gunung Palung National Park ACCESSIBILITY To reach Gunung Palung National Park from the Capital City of West Kalimantan
can be done several ways:
Traveling Through Teluk Melano. Teluk Melano can be reached from Pontianak by speedboat (4 hours) through Rasau Jaya or by small ship 10 hours. After wards, from Teluk Melano, we can directly go to the location of National Park by speedboat. POTENCY OF TOURISM Sea/beach tourism, Pulau Datok Beach and Bukit Lubang Tedong in the West Side of National Park which is directly stand opposite with Karimata Strait, is a centre area of Gunung Palung National Park tourism region. In Village along the jungtion of Matan river and Simpang River will be found several archeological goods of local community. For those who found of adventure activity can do the climbing in Palung Mountain (1050 m). From the top of the mountain, we can enjoy the view of the cities beneath like Teluk Melano, Rantau Panjang, with along the course of the river, which empty in to the Karimata strait. Beside that, in several part of Gunung Palung and Gunung Panti can be found several waterfalls which interesting enough to look at. POTENCY OF NATURAL RESOURCE Potency of natural resources which makes this region has the special
attractiveness is the existancy of complete types of ecosystem. In each
of type of that ecosystem is in habited by various kind of wild animal,
among them is Primate class like Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), Gibbon (Hylobates
moloch), Bekantan (Nasalis larvatus), Leaf Monkey (Presbytis rubicunda)
and Long Tail Macaque (Macaca fascicularis). These animals are often found
on tree's canopy. Orangutan In Gunung Palung National Park it can be found
easily in Research Station Cabang Panti. |
